Day 10
He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble his way. Ps 25:9
Humility, that word gets such a bad rap in the society or culture of today. To me humility is understanding your place and position and fulfilling it well. It means knowing who God is and knowing who you are in God. it’s understanding that Christ paid a precious price for you but also knowing that He did the same for the next person, the only thing that makes us worth anything is God.
So what does this mean for us in a practical actionable step? It means when you meet someone that is in a worse situation than you, you remember that they are precious in the sight of God and therefore they are precious in your sight too. This will lead you to treat them with honor and respect, you extend grace instead of mockery, kindness instead of being ruthless. When we attempt to live outside of Him and lose sight of God, we lose our value and attempt to feel worthy by comparing ourselves to others.
He teaches the humble His way. If we do not understand who God is and who we are in God, it’s hard for us to submit and let God teach us. If we think we are the big shots then why would we want to be led by God? I can see why God would rather reveal things to a man that knows his place. A man like that listens to counsel and is teachable. A man like that submits himself to authority and doesn’t allow false rhetoric sway him from the truth. A man like that does not get in the way of what God desires to do.
I think often of how God takes care of me always and in all ways. I've watched Him perfect all that concerns me and then some, I know that I do not deserve any of His kindness but yet He still shows it. To trust that He will always take care of me, that I don’t have to worry, that I’ll be okay forever no matter what comes my way requires humility. I know it can be hard to feel that way when life throws you a curve but I hope today you take a moment to think back to a time when God showed up in a way only He can. It will reposition your mind to remember who God is to you and who you are in Him. Acknowledge the role God has played in getting you to where you are now.
Let me be your reminder today that God is in everything, He has your back completely. Whatever he says, obey. Go to Him. He will lead you in what is right and teach you His ways.
